Acknowledgements

This hackathon exists because our team gave their evenings, weekends and more to RideScore DC. Thank you all.

Special thanks

Fabian Kloosterman: for building the scoring pipeline, writing the developer guides (including the Windows setup guide), drafting the mini-project ideas, merging and deploying the website updates, and shaping much of this guide. So much of what you'll use today runs on his work.

William Xie: for getting the website and its servers ready for today, merging and deploying with Fabian, setting up production, and writing the GitHub setup guide that will save a lot of people a lot of frustration.

Tess: for designing the Community Research track from scratch, for her many contributions to this guide, and for thoughtful commentary across the project, including a remarkably thorough review of the basemap that made the data better.

The people who contributed to this effort

  • Charlotte Ellison: the original scoring notebook the pipeline is built on, the map's frontend and tile backend, and the OSM–DDOT join methodology (with EChO)
  • Matt Zamora: the website setup and the reporting tool prototype
  • Shaun Melendy: keeping our servers running, and running leaner
  • Blessing: testing and improving the developer guides
  • Nonye and Wade: helping shape the Community Research track
  • Elias: our first LTS model
  • Puneet: early work preparing the modeling data
  • Justin: for being our scrum master and bringing some structure to our creative chaos
  • Elliot: for helping with our cybersecurity
  • Chuba Oraka: for contributions to the website repository
  • Yanling Lin: for her enthusiasm and energy, and for jumping in and trying things right away
  • Leselle: for joining us and jumping right in from day one

Our hosts and partners

Thank you to Civic Tech DC and the GW Open Source Program Office for hosting, to co-hosts Mike Deeb, Helen Glover, David Lippert and Evan Tung, and to Dan Winston for joining our panel. Thank you also to everyone in DC's bike community who helped spread the word.

And to you

Thank you for spending your Saturday making DC's streets a little easier to understand. Whatever you build, find or question today will shape what RideScore DC becomes. 🚲
